Road Trip Continued

Well I left off last time with us hiking down into the Grand Canyon....

Words can truly not describe the beauty of this place. 

THE RIVER!!! A sign we were truly almost done!

Never have I ever been so happy to see a bridge. As you can see we were pretty happy to have made it to our campground and be eating food!

Do you see this evil little creature? They are not to be trusted and are ALL over the campground Once at our camp we emptied our packs of all food and put it in the the ammo can, as instructed. We left for awhile to sit in the nice cold river. When we came back this evil thing had chewed a hole in one of the pockets on my pack!! Ugh...it was small and we repaired it, but at the time I was not a happy camper.

Black Bridge built in 1928. Suspended with 8 main 550ft long cables. They had to be carried down by men because they were too heavy for the mules. Oh. My.

After 2 days we started our treck out at 3:30am.....it was dark, but we were able to beat the horrible heat (it was 80 when we left the bottom,but the top was 55). Unfortunately, about 1 1/2 hours from the top it started to rain. It wasn't fun to hike in, but the cool air felt lovely.

Oh, how we loved seeing the sunrise while we hiked up. Walking around different bends and seeing this just took my breath away. 

  

WE MADE IT!!!!

After hot showers, 2 hour nap and a hot meal we enjoyed sunset and one more look at this beautiful place. 

ZION NATIONAL PARK

Josh and I agree this was probably our favorite place. There was just something about it that we loved. We took a tour with one of the rangers, listened to the educational talks at night and took some fun hikes. One of which was Angles Landing (this was my favorite hike of all time) 2.4 mile strenuous hike, 1,488ft tall, with lots of steep switchbacks. The last half mile has chains to hold onto and steep drop offs, I loved it!

Packing up and headed to Dead Horse Point State Park.....
